After breakfast at hotel At 10.00 we have sightseeing of the village Yantarny. This is the place where the amber is industrially extracted. As part of the Soviet Union, Yantarny produced approximately 600 tons of amber annually through the company Russky Yantar ("Russian Amber"). We will see an enormous open pit where 90% of amber of the world is extracted and a manufacture where pieces of amber are becoming a masterpiece if jewellery.
Afterwards we depart to Svetlogorsk - prior to 1945 known by its German name Rauschen, is a moderately popular summer coastal resort town and the administrative center of Svetlogorsky District of Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia, located on the coast of the Baltic Sea on the Sambian Peninsula.
After lunch and spending some time again in Svetlogorsk we will leave it for Kaliningrad. As a part of short sightseeing tour we will visit Cathedral of Kaliningrad. There are more than hundred gravestones and epitaphs inside and outside of Cathedral, which dates from different periods of time and has different art level. In 1804 there was buried the great German philosopher Immanuel Kant. The Cathedral is one of the oldest monuments of architecture. It has the great art-architectural and historic meaning. After breakfast (10.00) we continue our sightseeing in Kaliningrad (ex Königsberg). In medieval times this city was the seat of Prussia and an important port that was fought over for centuries. Until the Second World War, the province was almost entirely German; but after the German`s surrender in war Königsberg was joined to USSR, renamed into Kaliningrad and repopulated with Russians. The German language was replaced by the Russian language.
Moreover, we will visit Museum of the World Ocean. The Museum of the World Ocean possesses the only Embankment of the historical fleet in the country. The coastal museum complex consists of the main building where the exposition “The World of the Ocean. A Touch…” is displayed with its amazing aquariums, collections of shells and corals, geological and paleontological samples; the biggest skeleton of cachalot in the world.
In the afternoon, after the lunch, we depart for Curonian Spit (in Russian - Kurshksaya Kosa) - a 98 km long, thin, curved sand-dune spit. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site shared by the two countries (Russia & Lithuania). We will see ornithological station and famous dune Efa. In the evening accommodation at hotel.
