Welcome to Moscow, the great metropolis of the North! Upon arrival you will be transferred to the hotel with attendance of an excellent guide speaking your native language. On your first day in Russia you will have dinner in the hotel and also some free time to rest and get used to the time lag.
In the morning enjoy a sightseeing tour around Moscow. You will see the panoramic view of Moscow from the observation platform in Sparrow Hills, the amazing Moscow University, Park Pobedy – the heritage of Soviet Russia and of course the famous Moscow Kremlin and Red Square - the heart of the city. After lunch, you will be able to take a closer look at the Kremlin cathedrals and visit the Red Square with St.Basil’s Cathedral and Lenin’s Mausoleum.
You will spend the whole day in the ancient town of Sergiev Posad (around 70 km. from Moscow). Originated in the 15th century, it embraces one of the largest monasteries in Russia: the Trinity Lavra, which is an important historical landmark as well as a place of pilgrimage. During lunch you can taste traditional Russian food in the original monks’ refectory.
In the morning you will see other remarkable Moscow sights. You will be taken to the Novodevichy convent – a World Heritage Site of the 17th century, followed by a visit to Christ the Savior’s Cathedral, the main cathedral of the Russian Orthodox Church. You may also take a walk along one of the oldest streets in Moscow – Arbat, where you can find lots of souvenirs, or spend some time at leisure. After an independent lunch you will depart to Saint Petersburg by a high-speed train (4h.).
Upon arrival to Saint Petersburg you will meet another guide and have transfer to the hotel.
Saint Petersburg is also known as the cultural capital of Russia. On your first day in this incredible city you will have a guided tour in the Hermitage museum, one of the largest art museums in the world. After lunch you will be exploring the main sights of Saint Petersburg: the Square of Fine Arts, Palace Square, St.Isaac’s Cathedral and the Church of the Savior on Blood, a masterpiece of Russian medieval architecture, containing over 7500 square meters of mosaics —more than any other church in the world.
You will spend the whole day in the suburbs of Saint Petersburg. Get immersed in the epoch of Russian Empire with guided tours in Tsarskoye Selo and Peterhof!
Tsarskoye Selo is a former Russian summer residence of the imperial family. Catherine’s Palace, the largest palace of the tsars, is famous for its Baroque interiors, including the Gold Rooms and the unique Amber Room, the 8th wonder of the world.
After lunch discover the amazing “Russian Versailles” – Peterhof palace and park. You will tour the Grand Palace, the Lower and Upper Gardens with countless fountains, above which rises the Grand Cascade with the breathtaking Samson Fountain.
In the morning you will visit Saint Alexander Nevsky Lavra, a monastery of the 18th century, where many famous Russians are buried, followed by a tour to the Peter and Paul Fortress. The fortress played an important role in Russian revolution and was called the "Russian Bastille" at the time. In the evening discover traditional Russian cuisine in one of the best restaurants in Saint Petersburg.
You will have this day at leisure to explore the city on your own and say goodbye to Saint Petersburg. Then, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight home.
